EDUCATION

Picture
 Educate yourself about electromagnetic fields.  Read all about current international scientific studies regarding this issue.  Many links to these studies can be found in our Research section.  Also, read what magazines are saying about electromagnetic radiation and Wi-Fi, cell phones, and laptops in our Articles Section.  Finally, check out the links to other informative websites for more information on this topic.

NEWSLETTER

Picture
Sign up for our electronic monthly newsletter which is filled with current information, links to international scientific studies, and tips on how to reduce your exposure to electromagnetic fields.  Sign up can be completed through the Contact Us tab.

ASK ABOUT ROUTERS

Picture
Ask your child's principal what type of router (access point) is currently being used in your child's school.  Find out how many of these routers (access points) are installed in the school. Tell your child's principal that you want these routers publically labeled (most are installed behind ceiling tiles).  Tell your child's principal that you do not wish for your child to be placed in a classroom with a Wi-Fi router (access point).  Feel free to email this information to us as we compile our data.

WRITE TO THE NEWSPAPER

Picture
Write a letter to your local newspaper outlining your concerns regarding the installation and usage of Wi-Fi in your child's school.  The more concerns and voices that are heard, the better the chance of being listened to.

BLOG YOUR CONCERNS

Picture
Blog your concerns right here on this site.  Click Blog on the menu bar and get started!

 CONTACT YOUR TRUSTEE (KRPDSB)

Picture
Please contact your local trustee to let them know you do not wish for wireless routers to be installed and operating in your child's school.

CONTACT YOUR LOCAL MP AND MPP

Picture
Your local MP and MPP represent his or her constituents and speak on your behalf in the government arena.  If you wish to communicate your concerns, as either a parent or as a citizen regarding the issue of Wi-Fi being installed in schools, contact your elected official.  You can call them, drop by for a visit, or send an email with your concerns.

CONTACT YOUR LOCAL MEDICAL OFFICER OF HEALTH

Picture
The role of the health unit, directed by the local Medical Officer of Health, includes (but is not limited to) the following:

     * the promotion of health and disease prevention programs;
     * providing information to the public about healthy lifestyle choices;
     * educating parents about healthy growth and development for children;
      * communicating various aspects of health education for all age groups.

School boards look to the local Medical Officer of Health for guidance and direction pertaining to the installation and running of wireless routers (wireless access points) in our schools.  At this time, local Medical Officers of Health are informing school boards in Ontario that Wi-Fi is safe and can be in schools.

It is your right to communicate with your local Medical Officer of Health to let him or her know about your concerns regarding Wi-Fi in your children's school.   You can contact the following Medical Officers of Health in Ontario by clicking here.

TALK TO FRIENDS

Picture
Word of mouth is sometimes the best way to communicate information.  Talk to your friends about your concerns regarding wi-fi in schools.  Forward them a link to our website for more information.  Many people from all over the world are becoming educated about the negative side-effects from wi-fi and are starting to communicate with each other.  Education is the key.

Download a copy of the frequently asked questions sheet.  Feel free to distribute this to those concerned.  This sheet was produced by our National Affiliate, Citizens For Safe Technology, located in British Columbia, Canada.

Brochure:  What To Look For Once Wi-Fi Is Activated In Your Child's School

Picture
Here is a link for a brochure put together by concerned Simcoe County, Ontario parents. Included in it is a description of what to watch for once Wi-Fi is activated in your child’s school.  These “short-term” exposure symptoms are a response of exposure over several months or years, they are not immediate). These symptoms will affect 3-4% of children. This is called electromagnetic frequency sensitivity. Long-term exposure effects have the potential to be much more serious. Nobody  knows at this time (due to lack of research and the limited time this new technology has been used) how many will be effected. Our feeling is that the benefits of wireless don’t outweigh the risk. We currently have a high functioning system already in place.

Parents and guardians with the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board are encouraged to consider these effects now, as a newer, more powerful Wi-Fi System has only recently been installed (2011) throughout the PVNCCDSB schools.

Play it safe. Plug it in.
